Different types of Screws and their Uses

DIC Fasteners is a Manufacturer, Supplier, and Exporter of Screws everything from standard to non-standard size, material, grades, and thread profile. We also specialize in Wood screws, Thread Cutting screws, and other various types of Screws.

The Screw is a type of fastener, which is usually made from metal that commonly comprises a head at one end, a point at the other, and a shaft shape so that it can be turned into another material. These screws are available in both inch and metric threads in different materials like aluminum, stainless steel, steel screws, plastic screws, etc.

The head of the screw is usually larger than the body of the screw, which keeps it from being driven deeper than the length of the screw and provides a bearing surface. The cylindrical portion of the screws from the underside of its head to the tip is called the shank.

Types of Screws:-

* Wood Screw:- As the name suggest these screws are used to fasten wood materials. Usually, the wood screws are made of brass, bronze, and steel.

* Drywall Screw:- These types of screws are used for the attachment of a pre-planned structure. These screws have deeper threads than regular screws.

* Deck Screws:- These Screws are similar to drywall screws except having resistance coating like zinc plating, ceramic coated, etc.

* Self-Tapping Screws:- These screws are used to combine metal parts with wood, plastic, or other surfaces. The material of these screws is depending on the application.

* Concrete Screws:- Concrete screws are also known as anchor screws, that are designed for quick, safe, secure fastening for a variety of works in concrete.

* Lag Screws:- Lag screws are used in woodworking. These screws are mostly found in hex or square-headed with coarse threaded.

* Machine Screws:- These screws are used to join parts together in all types of machines like electronics, engines, and heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.

* Self Drilling Screws:- This is a type of screw that permits you to drill into the materials such as steel or wood with pre-drilling holes.

* Sheet Metal Screws:- These types of screws have a sharp thread and a sharp point which can be used in wood, plastic, and steel. These screws are commonly used for sheet metal applications.

* Sems Screws:- This screw is a combination of a screw or a bolt with an in-built washer or set of washers. Their application is simple and time-saving.

* Set Screws:- Set screws are also known as blind screws, and are widely used in product design, engineering, and repair applications.

* Shoulder Socket Screws:- Shoulder socket screws are used to hold objects together in a specific position. These are used in punch and die applications.

* Socket Cap Screws:- Socket cap screw is a threaded fastener, that comes with a cylindrical barrel-shaped head containing a hexagonal socket.

* Thread Cutting Screws:- These screws are often used in sheet metal, plastic, and aluminum.

* Thread Forming Screws:- Thread Forming Screws are those Screws that can either be drilled directly or can use a pre-drilled hole to attach materials such as plastic and metal.

* Thumb Screws:- These Screws can be used to tighten without tools. The Thumb screw’s head comes in shapes and includes a plain and hex socket head.

* Weld Screws:- The Weld screws are used to connect the screws to the metal surface after welding.

* Wood Screws:- These screws are particularly designed to fasten wood pieces together. It is a steel screw that is used to fasten items into the wood.
